Shohei Ohtani is inching closer to a remarkable milestone after stealing his 47th base of the season during the Los Angeles Dodgers' 10-4 loss to the Chicago Cubs.

This puts him just three steals away from achieving a historic 50-50 season , where he would have 50 home runs and 50 stolen bases.

Ohtani, who hit his 46th home run just a day prior, is on track to become the first player in Major League Baseball history to reach this benchmark. With only 18 games left in the regular season, he needs four more home runs to complete the feat.

Despite being sidelined from pitching until 2025 due to injury, Ohtani continues to impress on the field. His latest steal brings him closer to doubling his previous best of 26 stolen bases, achieved in 2021.

The game against the Cubs saw former Dodgers players Cody Bellinger and Michael Busch play pivotal roles.

Bellinger hit a two-run homer in the first inning, while Busch added an RBI single shortly after. Ohtani was intentionally walked in the third inning but quickly stole second base.

The Cubs maintained their lead throughout the game, with Busch contributing a solo home run and an RBI single, while Bellinger capped off his return to Los Angeles with an RBI single and a diving catch in the ninth inning.

Ohtani's pursuit of the 50-50 milestone continues as the Dodgers prepare for another matchup against the Cubs at Dodger Stadium. He has 18 games left and to hit this mark, so it is going to come down to the wire.
