The Philadelphia Eagles knew that releasing Dylan McMahon would leave him open to getting picked up by other offensive line-needy teams. Even if he was brought back to the practice squad.

Turns out that is exactly what happened.

Philadelphia's sixth-round pick from the 2024 draft was picked up off the practice squad by the Los Angeles Rams Tuesday afternoon. McMahon, an NC State product who was the 190th overall pick in April, had center and guard experience with the Birds going into the preseason and training camp.

McMahon's agent, Whitney Holtzman announced the signing of McMahon to the active roster for Los Angeles.

The Rams are a team in desperate need of help along the offensive line. They suffered injuries to several key members of the line.

Starting guard Steve Avila is expected to go on Injured Reserve with a knee injury, offensive tackle Joe Noteboom is likely to miss two or three weeks with a sprained ankle, and right guard Kevin Dotson suffered a sprained ankle.

Right tackle Rob Havenstein was inactive for the Lions with an ankle injury and left tackle Alaric Jackson must serve one more week of a two-game NFL suspension for violating the league’s personal conduct policy.

McMahon should certainly be able to help the Rams immediately as they try to hold off an 0-2 start. For the Eagles, they lost out on a 2024 pick just five months after selecting the player to begin with.
