NFL fans couldn't help but mock ESPN for its rather embarrassing mistake involving Aaron Rodgers during the broadcast of the New York Jets-San Francisco 49ers game on Monday, September 9.

As the broadcast went into a break, ESPN showed a promo featuring Rodgers. There's just one problem: the network spelled his name wrong. Instead of Rodgers, ESPN was missing the "D" and only showed "Rogers."

Awful Announcing's eagle eyes caught the mistake and quickly shared it on social media. The post has been viewed over 94,000 times and has generated a number of reactions from fans, mostly trolling ESPN for the error.

"No discount double check on the spelling here," a fan hilariously said. Another commenter shared, "To be fair, he hasn’t had a D most of his career."

"DEI Graphics tech missed the D," a social media user noted.

    A fourth poster said, "Oops."

For what it's worth, "Rogers" is a really popular surname in the US, so it's understandable why one would be confused by it. But considering how huge ESPN is, it's an error that could have been totally avoided with another set of eyes checking.

Still, the mistake certainly gave fans something to talk about amid the intense battle between the Jets and 49ers. For those who missed it, Aaron Rodgers and New York ended up succumbing to San Francisco, 32-19.
