Reid Detmers is making a push to finish the 2024 season strong after a challenging year with the Los Angeles Angels . The 25-year-old pitcher began the season with high hopes, showing promise by allowing only three earned runs in his first 22.2 innings. However, his performance took a downturn, leading to an 8.93 ERA and 1.760 WHIP over eight starts from late April to early June, during which he surrendered ten home runs in 40.1 innings.

To regain his form, Detmers was sent to Triple-A Salt Lake. After some struggles in the minors, he found his rhythm and returned to the Angels, where he faced the L.A. Dodgers and the Minnesota Twins. In those outings, he demonstrated significant improvement, allowing just two earned runs in each game while racking up strikeouts.

With two more starts likely remaining this season, Detmers is eager to showcase his progress and remind everyone of his potential. His teammate, a seasoned utility player, has expressed confidence in Detmers' abilities, noting that when he’s on his game, he can dominate any lineup.

“You always want to finish strong, especially in my last two starts I have left,” Detmers said. “I’m trying to give it my all and get my name back out there. And trying to make a statement and show everybody who I am.”

Detmers has always had the talent, but consistency has been an issue. If he can maintain his recent performance, he could solidify his place in the Angels' rotation moving forward.
