Eagles Need Defensive Line to Dominate vs. Falcons

The Philadelphia Eagles didn't get much production from their defensive line in their season-opening victory. Many analysts chalked that up to the slippery field in Sao Paulo, Brazil, as the root cause.

They won't get that same leniency in Week 2, though.

When the Eagles take on the Atlanta Falcons in their home opener of 2024, they'll do so with the understanding that their defensive line should be much better than what they put on tape last Friday.

Against an Atlanta offensive line that was buried by the Pittsburgh Steelers, there will be opportunities for the Eagles to succeed.

In their 18-10 loss at home Sunday, Falcons starting quarterback Kirk Cousins was sacked twice but pressured consistently throughout the contest.

Philadelphia may not have a T.J. Watt on their roster, but the collection of edge players who were silent on opening night should be able to have more success overall against a Falcons offense still getting to know each other.

Whether it's Bryce Huff, Josh Sweat, or even Nolan Smith, the path is there for the Eagles' top edge rushers to excel like they weren't able to do in Week 1.

At the very least there isn't going to be an excuse built in like there was on Friday.
