The Houston Texans won their opening game in Indianapolis 29-27. C.J. Stroud was 24/32 for 234 yards and two touchdowns.

DeMeco Ryans spoke to the media about improvements that the defense can make and how they stopped the run.

On what he saw on their coverage of the deep balls thrown by QB Anthony Richardson

DeMeco: With the deep balls, first credit to their receiver going up and making a play. Tremendous catch by him. Just 50/50 ball. In those instances, you want to be able to come down with it as the defender. It didn't happen. They made a play and we didn't. The other couple deep balls where the guy got behind us, that's solely up to us. We can't allow a receiver to get behind us and we have to be better there.

On thoughts on how the defense did against Colts RB Jonathan Taylor

DeMeco: I am really proud of our defensive line for the way they just eliminated the space upfront. We set edges and we created penetration so that allowed us to play really well versus [Jonathan] Taylor in the run game. I know he has been a problem for us for awhile, a big game on us last year. One of the things I am most proud of is stopping the run versus those guys. They are a tough unit to stop and I am very proud of our guys. Not only did they set edges, but the way our guys tackled, I felt like we tackled much better than we did in the last game of the season.
