The Michigan Wolverines made history in Week 2, and not in a good way. Michigan lost during the regular season for the first time since 2021 and lost at home for the first time since 2020.

The Texas Longhorns came into Ann Arbor with little resistance, beating Michigan 31-12. Texas had success passing and running the football. The Longhorns finished the game with 246 passing yards and 143 rushing yards. The defense also forced three turnovers.

On a recent " College GameDay Podcast " episode, Rece Davis talked about the expectations for Michigan following the Week 2 loss. Davis did not sound too confident that the Wolverines would be a College Football Playoff unless the team had a total turnaround.

Davis believed that Michigan would finish 8-4 this season.

"...It appears that they'll have a difficult time fixing to win enough games to be in playoff consideration," Davis said. "I think Pete, on the podcast, you and I both said they felt like an 8-4 type team this year. That's kind of what I see from them right now. They look like an 8-4 team."

Michigan has made the playoff in three consecutive seasons, starting in 2021. Before that streak, the Ohio State Buckeyes (2014, 2016, 2019, 2020, 2022) and Michigan State Spartans (2015) were the only Big Ten to reach the playoff.

Sherrone Moore and the Wolverines can rebound in Week 3 against the Arkansas State Red Wolves. Kickoff is at noon ET on Big Ten Network on Sept. 14.
