Chiefs Defense Historic According to Stat

The Kansas City Chiefs ' defense showed their dominance in their win against the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday, holding them to just two touchdowns in a 27-20 win.

While many often think about the Chiefs ' offense first because of stars like Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, the defense has been just as dominant, if not more dominant, in the past year.

After the win against Baltimore, the Chiefs have now gone 22 straight games (including playoffs) holding opponents under 28 points. That is the longest streak of any team since the Washington Commanders had a 23-game streak between 2008 and 2009.

While holding an opponent to 27 points is certainly not going to guarantee a win for any team, the fact that the Chiefs have held teams to under 28 points longer than anyone is a testament to their consistency and standard as a franchise.

While Kansas City will certainly face some high-powered offenses this season and there's a real possibility they lose their streak, the fact that their defense has been as consistent as they have is a huge reason that they are now pursuing their third-straight Super Bowl.

If the Chiefs' defense can continue to play consistently and set Mahomes and the offense up to win them football games, there is a real chance that they could be back hoisting up the Lombardi Trophy in February.

However, they'll have to make it there first. The Chiefs will host the Cincinnati Bengals for Week 2 on Sunday.
