According to a recent press release Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese has undergone successful surgery on a fractured left wrist.

The 22-year-old star was originally listed as "questionable" following Reese's final game against the Los Angeles Sparks on Sept. 6. After a further medical evaluation, Reese's injury was then downgraded to a season-ending designation.

Following the announcement that Reese's rookie season will be coming to an end, the young star had surgery and will start rehabilitation "in the coming weeks."

"Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese underwent successful surgery on a fractured left wrist and is taking steps towards a healthy recovery, the team announced today," per release. "She is expected to start rehabilitation in the coming weeks."

A recent report mentioned that Reese would be in a cast for six weeks.

As she sits on the sideline, the Chicago Sky are fighting to make a playoff push. They currently stand as the No. 8 team in the WNBA standings with a 13-22 record. The Sky are currently on a two-game winning streak, but Chicago has lost seven of its last 10 games.

The Sky are in jeopardy of losing their final playoff position in the WNBA standings as the Atlanta Dream sit at No. 9. The Dream are 2.5 games back from Chicago with a 12-24 record.

Reese finished her WNBA rookie season averaging 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds per game. She was the only rookie averaging a double-double and led the WNBA in average rebounds.

The rookie served as Chicago's most consistent starter, playing from the tip in all 34 games she was active.
