Flau'jae Johnson Responds to Angel Reese's Blunt Revelation About Their Relationship

One of the major talking points from the debut episode of Angel Reese's "Unapologetically Angel" podcast centered around her revelation about her relationship with former LSU teammate Flau'jae Johnson -- or rather the lack thereof.

The Chicago Sky star admitted that she's no longer as close with Johnson and hinted that they have drifted apart since Reese took her talents to the pros.

"I still support Flau'jae," Reese said in the September 5 episode of her podcast. "We aren't as close as we used to be. And there's no hard feelings or anything, but we aren't as close as we used to be. That's why people always expect us to still be posting each other and stuff like that. But, like, we aren't as close.

"It happens. You don't have the best relationships with everybody and don't always continue relationships with people. So I wish her the best always, and I'm always gonna support her... but yeah, there's no love lost."

Johnson has now responded to Reese's claims, and the rapper/LSU guard confirmed that their relationship is no longer the same as it once was.

“Yeah, me and Angel, we aren’t as close as we used to be,” Johnson told the New York Post in an exclusive interview on Tuesday. “But I still support her 1000 percent. I was proud of her, just being in the W[NBA] and breaking records.

“A lot of people said that she wouldn’t go to the W[NBA] and do all those things and they kinda hated on her. But I kinda knew that because I’d see it everyday in practice and I see the mentality that she has. So, it’s been dope [to watch her].”

Johnson, who is entering her junior year with the Lady Tigers this season, has pretty much echoed exactly what Reese previously said. The two have confirmed that they are no longer as close as they once were, but it also seems like there is no bad blood between them.

Reese and Johnson played two years together for LSU, which resulted in a national championship in 2023.

For what it's worth, Johnson, who signed with Jay-Z's Roc Nation earlier this year, is going to be eligible for the 2025 WNBA Draft. Perhaps she ends up landing with the Sky and she and Angel are able to rekindle an old flame as WNBA teammates.
