Lucas Raymond’s contract negotiations with the Detroit Red Wings remain ongoing, with his agent, Peter Werner, offering a moderately hopeful update on the situation on September 10.

Werner spoke to Swedish outlet hockeysverige.se , and the agent revealed that while the deal isn’t finalized yet, discussions are progressing toward a resolution ahead of the Red Wings training camp, which begins in less than 10 days.

“We are in the process of negotiating, but have not yet quite reached the goal,” Werner said. “We believe and hope, of course, that it will be ready before the camp. That is the objective.”

Raymond, 21, remains without a contract as Detroit prepares for the 2024–25 season. Both Raymond and teammate Moritz Seider, who is also without a deal, have been training together in Germany this summer while negotiating new deals with the Wings.

According to Werner, their shared offseason work has been beneficial as they navigate contract negotiations with the Red Wings.

“I can imagine that in terms of hockey and nice to be with someone who is in a similar position,” Werner said.

The Red Wings are reportedly looking to lock down both Raymond and Seider with long-term deals, though a bridge contract lasting one or two seasons at most remains a possibility as talks continue.

Werner, however, sounded confident that the two sides would come to an agreement soon, stating, “Oh yes, without a doubt, but to a reasonable agreement.”

Finally, Werner also relieved Wings fans by saying that the player is focusing on training this summer ahead of the upcoming season without losing focus because of the contract talks.

“In the meantime, as he has always done, Lucas focuses on figuring things out to get better,” Werner said.
