Brian Windhorst, one of the most revered media personalities, had some harsh comments for a former Clippers guard’s 3-point shooting. The senior ESPN writer went as far as suggesting Russell Westbrook should no longer attempt shots from beyond the arc.

For those still wondering, Windy was referring to Russell Westbrook, who was a dismal 27.3% from the 3-point line last season with the Clippers. Long-range shots were never among Mr.Triple-Double’s stronger suits since his days in OKC.

A recent signing on the Denver Nuggets, this is Brodie’s 5th team in the last six years. Inching closer to his final years of playing in the league, the nine-time All-Star received feedback from ESPN’s Windy, that entailed him to avoid pursuing threes.

Windy makes a strong plea to Westbrook for the upcoming 2024-25 season

A member of the NBA’s 75th-anniversary team, Russ has etched his name in the history books as one of the most explosive point guards of all time. An all-time leader in triple-doubles, Westbrook’s ability to contribute in various ways makes him a valuable addition to any team.

However, the same thing cannot be said about the 35-year-old’s shooting, especially when beyond the arc. Addressing the two-time scoring champion’s above imperfection, Windhorst implored Brodie to steer away from shooting triplets, stating the following .

“I wouldn’t let him shoot any more threes ever again quite honestly,” said Windy.

Not the most pleasing thing to hear for Westbrook fans, who yearn to see their favorite player win a championship this season.

    A statistical look at Brodie’s 3-point shooting

Westbrook has a career efficiency of 30.4% from long-range, with his highest being 34.3% during the 2016-17 season. In an era where 3-point shooting has become an essential skill in every player’s toolkit, Russ hasn’t been able to crack the code.

Entering his 17th season, the nine-time All-NBA player should play to his strengths, making things as easy as possible for Nikola Jokic and his Nuggets crew.
