Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Sheduer Sanders came under fire for his postgame comments following their 28-10 loss against the Nebraska Cornhuskers. When asked how important he feels it is for the Buffaloes to continue developing a run game to balance the offense, Sanders said the evidence is in how many times he came under pressure from the opposing defensive line versus his counterpart Dylan Raiola.

“I mean, how many times did Raiola get touched?” Sanders responded. “Of course when you’re able to run the ball consistently, then that opens up the pass, but you got to understand what your team’s good at.”

College football analysts had a field day with Sanders’ response including David Pollack. The former “College GameDay” co-host admitted everyone was thinking exactly what Sanders was explaining, but he wouldn’t advise the Colorado quarterback to actually say it.

“He should have been thinking it, I was thinking it, you were thinking it, and everybody watching the game was thinking why is No. 2 on the ground, but I think saying that doesn't build [cohesiveness],” Pollack said during his Week 2 recap on Youtube .

For a team that brought in more transfers than any other Power 4 team in the country ahead of the 2024 season with 41 additions from other programs, Pollack says Sanders needs to make statements that bring the team together, not divide them.

Sanders will lead the Buffaloes to Fort Collins to take on the rival Colorado State Rams in week three, a team that nearly exposed the Buffaloes in Week 2 of the 2023 season after taking them to overtime in Boulder. Kickoff is scheduled for Saturday, September 14, at 7:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
