6-Time All-Star Considered Joining Miami Heat Before $77 Million Move

The Miami Heat fans have been left disappointed by the organization's lack of movement this summer. While teams around them have strengthened significantly, they have stood still, sticking with what feels like a stagnant roster.

Let's see if the Heat are able to pull a rabbit out of their magic hat and surprise everybody once again. But as things stand, they do not look like title contenders. Not even close.

The Philadelphia 76ers, Boston Celtics, New York Knicks, Orlando Magic and a few other teams have a much better chance of challenging for the ring next season.

One of the few high-profile names that the Heat were believed to be interested in is DeMar DeRozan.

DeRozan was on his way out of Chicago, with the Bulls starting a full-on rebuild. And the Heat could do with someone of his quality to take the next step forward.

It looks like DeRozan considered the idea of joining the Heat as well as several other teams but ultimately chose to make the Sacramento Kings his next home, signing a three-year, $77 million deal with them.

While speaking on Paul George's Podcast P , DeRozan said: "I was thinking about Philly. Philly definitely was an option. Lakers was an option, always. Clippers was an option. And the Heat was an option."

DeRozan could have been a great addition to this team. As we all know, the Heat need to improve offensively if they are to compete with the contenders.

DeRozan certainly knows his way to the basket. He has averaged over 20 points per game in each of his last 11 seasons.

He is not a great three-point shooter by any means but certainly showed improvement in that area of his game in Chicago after an especially rough stretch from beyond the arc in San Antonio.
