Vic Fangio, Eagles Impressed With Zack Baun's Integration

Zack Baun never got the chance to be an every-down linebacker in his time with the New Orleans Saints. That doesn't mean he couldn't do it, though.

When the Philadelphia Eagles signed Buan in free agency, people questioned what his true role would be like. In just one game, though, the Wisconsin product showed his exploits are more than just a spare defender.

Baun recorded a team-high 15 tackles while recording two sacks, and a tackle for loss. The 34-29 win over the Green Bay Packers showed Baun is more than capable of leading a team's defense - while surprising even his own defensive coordinator.

“I thought he could do it. Was I going to bet my life savings on it? No. But I had a good feeling he could do it,” Vic Fangio said Wednesday.

Baun's play surprised the Eagles and their coaching staff overall, but they still need more from him. Tom Pelissero reported Wednesday afternoon that the improved play of Baun could "it will allow them to do a lot of different things defensively this season."

Fangio may be happy with how he's looked but there's still a while to go before the team can celebrate having potentially solved their linebacking concerns.
