Bill Belichick spent more than two decades as the head coach for the New England Patriots. He won six Super Bowls, was named AP Coach of the Year three times, and has an unreal 266-121 record just during his days as the Patriots head coach.

In 2024, Belichick is not coaching after interviewing for the Atlanta Falcons job and then deciding to enter the TV realm as a regular on The Pat McAfee Show.

Nonetheless, there will certainly be a market for Belichick once the next NFL coaching cycle begins, and recently Julian Edelman mentioned the New York Giants as an option.

On Wednesday, NFL analyst John Middlekauff had a different idea and mentioned one team as a "sleeper." That team is the Jacksonville Jaguars.

"We've tried to put Bill Belichick in a lot of places. Eagles the Cowboys, mainly those two," Middlekauff stated. "I do think that we're sleeping on a team. Because, the Jacksonville Jags, who have gone 9-8 the last two years, and look headed toward that, at best I do think that Doug, is in trouble."

The Jaguars are an intriguing fit for Belichick. Recently, Edelman mentioned the Giants, but Middlekauff wonders why that would be a good fit for Belichick, except for the fact that he coached there previously in the 1980s.

"I do wonder when we think about Belichick, the Giants make sense, in theory," Middlekauff continued. "But why would he go there?... You have to wonder if Trevor Lawrence looks solid this year and salvageable, you have to wonder if Bill and his guy Josh (McDaniels) go, "Let's go to Jacksonville."

The Giants have a lot of issues, including Daniel Jones at the quarterback position. As far as the Jaguars go, Lawrence is under contract for the foreseeable future, and Middlekauff suggests it might be a more intriguing option than the Giants.

It has only been one week of the 2024 NFL season, but the Bill Belichick coaching rumors will be something to monitor all year long.
