Paul Finebaum Reveals Which Top 5 Program Is Driving Fans of SEC Powerhouses 'Crazy'

In the early stages of this college football season, we have seen a handful of blueblood programs that appear to be on the right track to return to prominence.

Programs like USC, Miami and Tennessee have all made major statements thus far, but none compare to the one made by the Texas Longhorns. They are fresh off of blowing out No. 10 Michigan on the road, and ESPN's Paul Finebaum has seen enough to call them "back" and say that it's time to end the conversation about them being back "once and for all."

When making an appearance on the "On Texas Football" podcast, Finebaum not only called Texas back, but said that the new energy from their fans is driving programs like Alabama and Georgia crazy.

"Early Sunday Morning, I was on ESPN, and the anchor said, 'Hey, is Texas back?' and I said Texas is back," Finebaum explained . "Come on let's end this conversation once and for all. There was reason to doubt and you guys know it very well, you've lived it for 20 years. But there's no reason to doubt it anymore.

"Guys what I appreciate so much is not just the play on the field but it's the bravado of the fans," Finebaum said. "And they are now starting to infiltrate our show in the afternoon. And off the record, they are driving the Bama fans crazy... Georgia fans crazy because we got a couple of guys that are basically just saying 'Hey we own the SEC now' before they've even played an SEC game."

It's hard for Texas fans to not be feeling confident when you look at how they did last year, and how they've started this year. They won the Big 12 for the first time since 2009 last season, and also made it to their first College Football Playoff.

To start this season, they have won by an average of nearly 36 points, and their quarterback, Quinn Ewers, has placed himself firmly in the Heisman conversation. The cherry on top of their success is they have jumped up to the No. 2 spot in the latest AP Poll , which is their highest ranking since 2009.

They have certainly put the SEC, which happens to be their new conference, on notice. It also makes their Week 8 game against No. 1 Georgia that much more exciting.

They will have to remain focused before they get ahead of themselves, and that starts with UTSA on Saturday, September 14.
