The Miami Hurricanes entered this season as one of the most intriguing teams in college football.

Expectations surrounding the program soared after an impressive transfer portal class headlined by quarterback Cameron Ward. The Hurricanes also added multiple impact players, including Oregon State's Damien Martinez, Michigan State's Simeon Barrow Jr., and Tennessee's Tyler Baron.

Miami made an early statement with a Week 1 win over Florida, dominating the Gators in a 41-17 rout. The Hurricanes defeated an overmatched FCS program in Week 2, beating Florida A&M 56-9 to improve to 2-0.

On the latest episode of the " College GameDay Podcast ," ESPN's Rece Davis identified the Hurricanes as a top program that he remains skeptical about entering Week 3. He pointed towards his uncertainty in Florida and the quality of Miami's Week 1 win.

"I've probably been more skeptical of Miami, largely because I'm skeptical of Florida," Davis said. "That was a great win. It's almost like I just want to see a little more consistency."

Despite the skepticism from Davis, the Hurricanes have shown the potential to be true College Football Playoff contenders. Ward has completed over 75% of his passes for 689 passing yards and six touchdowns.

Miami's strength of schedule will continue to be a concern. The Hurricanes will not face a ranked team until Oct. 19, when they play No. 19 Louisville. Intriguing road matchups against California and Georgia Tech could be trap games.

The Hurricanes will look to improve to 3-0 this weekend against Ball State. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. CT on ACC Network.
