Aaron: Jets Can't 'Wallow In Self-Pity' After 49ers Blowout

    By Adam Schultz,

The New York Jets entered their Week 1 clash against the San Francisco 49ers full of hope and optimism...and it took two quarters for that to dissipate and for the reality of NFL football set in.

While there were some bright spots, with Aaron Rodgers leading a 14-play touchdown drive in the first quarter and then finding Allen Lazard for a touchdown in the third quarter, it was tough sledding for the Jets.

The 32-19 loss to the 49ers might make the game seem closer than it was, but San Francisco brutally punished New York on both sides of the ball.

For Rodgers, the team can't get stuck on the outcome of the game with such a busy schedule ahead of them.

“We got two games in 10 days, so we don't have time to wallow in self-pity here,” Rodgers said . “We got to correct this film and move on. Tennessee's got a real good defense I think they played really good their first game, so we got to move on to the next one and then we got a home opener four days after that one. So it's a stressor starting the season like this but we know we got to play better, I got to play better and obviously we can't turn the ball over twice and lose turnover battle and expect to win.”

With Week 1 now completed, there will be a host of overreactions to the results, and the Jets are no different.

Some have stated that head coach Robert Saleh should be fired, while others called Rodgers washed. But in reality, it was the first game of the season, and the Jets faced one of the best teams in football on their home deck. That's a tough assignment for any team.

So we won't be throwing the baby out with the bath water after one game. The Jets will get better, Rodgers will get better, and things will turn. It just takes time.

And the Tennessee Titans are up next for New York with a shot at redemption for Rodgers and Co. on the line.
