    Reid on Bengals: 'Different Tempo!'

    By Colin Miller,

The Kansas City Chiefs will face a familiar foe on Sunday, as they host the Cincinnati Bengals. The two teams played in back-to-back AFC Championship games in the 2021 and 2022 seasons, and split those games 1-1, both totaling 47 points through the two matchups as well.

While the Chiefs will be heading into the game 1-0, the Bengals are coming in after a disappointing home loss to the New England Patriots. Despite their slow start, Chiefs coach Andy Reid believes that Cincinnati will come in ready to play.

"We know they're gonna come in here and be ready to go," said Reid. "I don't know what's gone on in the past, but I know every time we play each other, it's a heck of a football game... When teams like this play each other, it's just a different tempo."

Including the postseason, quarterback Patrick Mahomes has faced the Bengals six times in his career, and is 3-3 in those games. Meanwhile, Cincinnati quarterback Joe Burrow has faced the Chiefs four times in his career and is 3-1, showing that when he has played, his team has gotten the better of Mahomes and Kansas City.

Regardless of team stats and records going into the matchup, the game could have serious implications for the postseason despite it being months away. With both teams looking to make it back to the Super Bowl, there is a real chance that a win on Sunday could have an impact on playoff seeding later on.
