Boise State Athletic Director Makes Cryptic Post Amid Pac-12 Expansion

Late Thursday night, in a fitting nod to the old "Pac-12 After Dark" slogan that once captivated college football fans, news broke of potential expansion plans for the beleaguered conference.

Following the end of last season, the Pac-12 was left in a precarious position after losing 10 of its member schools to other conferences, leaving only Oregon State and Washington State to keep the conference's name alive. Once a powerhouse among the Power 5 conferences, the Pac-12 now faces an uncertain future.

However, on Thursday night, a glimmer of hope emerged as Yahoo Sports' Ross Dellenger reported that the Pac-12 is exploring the addition of four schools from the Mountain West Conference: Boise State, San Diego State, Fresno State, and Colorado State.

According to Dellenger, these schools have either already applied for membership or are preparing to do so soon. In response to the report, Boise State's athletic director, Jeramiah Dickey, posted a cryptic message on X (formerly Twitter) that fueled speculation and excitement among Broncos fans and the broader college football community.

"Love you Bronco Nation... Sleep Well #BleedBlue #WhatsNext," Dickey posted.

Dickey's ambiguous post has certainly intensified the speculation about Boise State's future and the possible revival of the Pac-12.

Boise State, a member of the Mountain West Conference since the 2011 season following their departure from the Western Athletic Conference (WAC), has been a dominant force in their current conference, winning the Mountain West Championship four times (2014, 2017, 2019, and 2023).

Dickey, who took over as Boise State's Director of Athletics in January 2021 after serving as Associate Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics at Baylor since 2017, has been a pivotal figure in navigating Broncos' athletics. Helping facilitate the school's move to the Pac-12 will only add to his resume should it come to fruition.

As of now, there has been no word or comment from the athletic directors of the other schools reportedly involved in this potential Pac-12 expansion.
