Cowboys vs. Saints Injury Report: Jake Ferguson OUT of Practice

    By Mike Fisher,

FRISCO - Entering NFL Week 2, the Dallas Cowboys on Wednesday listed just one true concern on the injury report, that being Jake Ferguson as he tries to rehab his knee straight. Sunday's opponent, the visiting New Orleans Saints?

They list 13 guys, including Marshon Lattimore, Tyrann Mathieu, Lucas Patrick and Khalen Saunders, who were out Wednesday, with four others, including starters Taliese Fuaga and Foster Moreau, as limited.

Dallas is a 6.5-point favorite in Sunday's noon game between two 1-0 teams, and maybe health is one of the reasons why. Mostly, as you will see the injury report below (as we talk about it in the Fish Report), the Cowboys had guys taking rest days.

But Ferguson? He recorded a DNP and yet was in a positive mood later in the locker room here at The Star.

"Thankfully, just a little bone bruise and MCL,'' he said. "If my ACL's good, I'm fine. There's some stuff you can play through and I'm one of those guys who if I can play through it, I'm going to go. But at the same time, if I can't give this team my best and I can't live up to the standard, and play at that standard that we hold, then there's no point in me hurting the team.''

The Cowboys are working through a hamstring issue with reserve tight end John Stephens Jr., and rookie defensive lineman Marshawn Kneeland (calf) was out, but again, otherwise, it was all systems go for the defense led by Micah Parsons ...

And with defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer and lead back Ezekiel Elliott doing their thing to get ready for the day and for the weekend.

In the end ... Is it possible that Ferguson finds a way to play?

"(It's now) just a little instability that kind of starts to raise some questions,'' he said. "You don't want to have one thing give out and have that lead to another. So we just want to make sure everything's stable and that I can do my job."
