Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James shared an eight-word message on Thursday morning, September 12, regarding A’ja Wilson’s remarkable feat with the Las Vegas Aces, which she accomplished against the Indiana Fever on Wednesday night, September 11.

"STRAIGHT Buckets!!! CONGRATULATIONS SIS! Love to see it!!!" said James.

Wilson has solidified herself as one of the most dominant players in WNBA history since being drafted first overall in the 2018 WNBA draft. She made an immediate impact, earning the WNBA Rookie of the Year award.

Over the years, Wilson has added two league MVP awards (2020 and 2022) to her resume, been named to multiple All-WNBA and All-Defensive teams, and played a pivotal role in leading the Aces to their first WNBA championship in 2022.

LeBron’s praise came after Wilson achieved another historic milestone—scoring the most points in a single WNBA regular season during the Aces’ 86-75 win over the Indiana Fever. Wilson’s record-setting performance grabbed the attention of the NBA legend, sparking his celebratory message.

Wilson broke Jewell Loyd’s previous record of 939 points by hitting a mid-range jumper late in the second quarter, bringing her total to 941 points. Impressively, Wilson reached this milestone in 35 games, compared to Loyd’s 38.

She finished the game with a double-double, scoring 27 points and pulling down 12 rebounds.

With four games remaining in the regular season, Wilson is closing in on an unprecedented 1,000 points, further solidifying her case for another MVP award. LeBron’s homage to Wilson highlights a moment where two of the greatest in basketball history recognize each other’s excellence.
