The Detroit Tigers are gearing up for a weekend filled with culture, fun, and some good old-fashioned baseball as they host the 19th annual ¡Fiesta Tigres! on Saturday, September 14. This fan-favorite celebration is just one part of a vibrant, three-day event honoring Hispanic Heritage, running from September 13 to 15. Get tickets here .

A Weekend of Celebration - Friday

The festivities begin Friday, September 13, at 6:40 p.m. ( gates open at 5:00 p.m .), when the Tigers kick off the weekend with Hispanic Heritage Night. Fans who snagged the special ticket package will get a limited-edition Detroit Tigers Hispanic Heritage hat. Plus, before the game, Comerica Bank and the Tigers will honor four Detroit community members as Hispanic Heritage Month Game Changers. Each will be awarded $1,000 to donate to a charity of their choice, and they’ll also receive 75 tickets to that night’s game.

If that doesn’t already sound like a party, wait until you hear about Friday Night’s “Party in the Park.” Presented by Casamigos, the pregame festivities will feature live music from a Latin American band, the Spicy Samba Splash cocktail (the name says it all), and a performance of the national anthem by award-winning Venezuelan musician Jorge Glem. The evening wraps up with a postgame concert by Mexican American singer Frankie J and some fireworks to light up the Detroit sky.

    Saturday Celebrations

On Saturday, September 14, ¡Fiesta Tigres! takes center stage for its 19th year of celebrating the rich legacy of Latin American players in Major League Baseball. Gates open at 4:30 p.m., and the first 15,000 fans over 21 will take home a “Tigres” soccer jersey, thanks to Miller Lite. But the excitement doesn’t stop there.

Roaming mariachi bands, Latin American musicians, and Tigers players signing autographs on the concourse ensure there’s something for everyone to enjoy. In keeping with the spirit of giving back, a portion of the proceeds from the 50/50 raffle will support Centro Multicultural La Familia, and the Tigers Foundation will make a donation to the Latin Americans for Social and Economic Development summer youth program.

Saturday’s pregame ceremony will honor Alex Avila and the Tigers’ Latin American players, past and present, followed by a national anthem performance by Latin vocalist Caleb Gutierrez.

Sunday - Honoring a Legend: Roberto Clemente Day

Sunday, September 15, marks Roberto Clemente Day, where the Tigers will honor their 2024 Roberto Clemente Award nominee, pitcher Tarik Skubal. Known for his generosity off the field, Skubal, along with his wife, Jessica, has made a significant impact in the Detroit community.

They’ve supported Alternatives for Girls, an organization dedicated to empowering homeless and at-risk young women. They’ve also contributed to the Detroit Tigers Foundation, which has provided millions in grants, scholarships, and tickets for youth throughout Michigan, Ohio, and southern Ontario.

Fans arriving early for Sunday’s 12:10 p.m. game can enjoy the live sounds of a Latin American band outside Section 101. There will also be a ceremonial first pitch from David Zamora, Chief Operating Officer of Zamora Ent., to cap off what promises to be an unforgettable weekend of baseball and culture.

To sweeten the deal, more than 1,500 tickets will be distributed to local Hispanic organizations as part of the ¡Fiesta Tigres! celebration. All three games will also be broadcast in Spanish, available on the Audacy app, MLB app, and Bally Sports Detroit SAP, ensuring everyone can join in on the celebration.

This weekend isn't just about baseball; it's about recognizing the incredible influence the Latin American community has had on the game, both on and off the field. From the roaring crowds to the vibrant music, ¡Fiesta Tigres! and Roberto Clemente Day are a perfect tribute to the players and the fans who bring so much energy, passion, and culture to the game.
