ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith shared a bold WNBA take on Thursday morning, calling a current star "one of the greatest players of all time."

There are a few players that Smith could have chosen from in today's WNBA.

The first is Phoenix Mercury guard Diana Taurasi. In her 19-year career, she's received numerous honors, including a Rookie of the Year, league MVP, two WNBA finals MVPs, five scoring titles, and three WNBA championships.

The second one could have been Indiana Fever rookie sensation Caitlin Clark. She may only be a rookie, but she's overtaken the league like we've never seen before. Her on-court play is helping women's basketball draw a tremendous increase in attention and viewers .

On ESPN's "First Take," Smith named Las Vegas Aces center A'ja Wilson.

"I think she's (A'ja Wilson) the greatest player in the game," he said. " I think she is one of the greatest players of all time, and we just need to stand down and recognize and pay homage to the greatness that we are witnessing."

On Wednesday, September 11, Wilson broke the record for most points scored in a single season with 956. This record was previously held by Jewell Lloyd in 2023 at 939.

Wilson is also on the verge of breaking Diana Taurasi's record for the highest point-per-game average in a season (25.2). With just four games to go, Wilson is at 27.3.

Wilson will look to continue her greatness on Friday, September 13, against the Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever.

    Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET.
