As Michigan football ramps up for its next game, there's one player whose storyline carries a bit more emotion than the rest. Kicker Dominic Zvada is set to face his former team, Arkansas State , in what promises to be a game brimming with personal meaning for the Wolverine.

Zvada, now making waves with Michigan, has been a critical part of the team's special teams unit this season. The kicker has showcased his remarkable skills by nailing three field goals from beyond the 50-yard mark. One of those, a booming 55-yarder, was a personal highlight, and certainly one that would make most NFL scouts raise an eyebrow.

Looking ahead to his reunion with Arkansas State, Zvada was candid about how much this game means to him.

"It's something that’s been on my mind for a long time," Zvada shared . "Ever since I committed here in the summer, it’s been in the back of my mind. It’s just another game, so I have to stay focused and do what I do. It will be good to see the friends that I have, but I have to stay focused and locked in to what I need to do.”

That said, he’s determined to treat it like any other game, keeping his emotions in check. Whether he's stepping up for a simple extra point in a blowout or a high-pressure long-range kick to clinch the win, Zvada approaches each with a laser focus.

During his time at Arkansas State, Zvada forged meaningful connections with teammates and coaches, relationships he still remembers fondly.

And while it may sound like the setup to a dramatic breakup, Zvada insists there’s no bad blood about his decision to transfer to Michigan. In fact, he’s ready to channel all the experience gained from his time at Arkansas State into this upcoming contest.

One challenge, though, is managing his nerves when the pressure's on. It doesn’t help when the stadium announcer loudly proclaims the distance of his kicks, especially during high-stakes situations. But Zvada’s mindset is simple: he treats each kick the same, whether it’s a 20-yarder or a 50-plus game changer.

His consistency and poise have been key for Michigan’s special teams, a unit that will play an increasingly important role as the Wolverines dive deeper into their Big Ten schedule. Zvada’s name is definitely one to watch as the season progresses.

So, while this game may carry a bit more weight for Zvada emotionally, it's clear he's focused on doing what he does best: making clutch kicks and helping his team win.
