'It's A Wrap!' Super Bowl-Winning Receiver Calls Steelers' Russell Wilson Done

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson’s calf may have ended his career as a starting quarterback in the NFL. His injury has allowed Justin Fields to start the first two games of this season as they head into Denver this week.

On a recent episode of FS1’s “The Facility” , former Super Bowl-winning receiver James Jones said he believes that Wilson won’t get another chance to start in Pittsburgh.

"I think it's a wrap for Russ. I do," Jones admitted. "I think the only way Russell Wilson starts is if Justin Fields gives him the job back by playing bad football. And the main reason I say that is they have Denver next — they could win that on defense.

“Then they got the Chargers — they could win that on defense. Then they got the Colts — they could win that on defense. So, what I'm saying is, if you don't go out and play bad... I don't know how you take Fields out.”

These are solid points. If Fields doesn’t turn the ball over, score points and win games, there is little chance that Steelers coach Mike Tomlin can replace him with Russell Wilson.

"The Pittsburgh Steelers want Justin Fields to start," he added. "Justin Fields is younger. You traded nothing for him — a sixth-round pick and you get the best out of him and you're winning football games?

“What more would you want as a head coach? ... I think it's a wrap for Russ. ... They'll be 4-0 going into the Cowboys game and I don't think that coach Mike Tomlin could keep him out of the lineup."

Fields and the Steelers head into Denver this week to take on the Broncos at Empower Field at Mile High on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET.
