Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver George Pickens is gearing up for a highly anticipated matchup against Denver Broncos star cornerback Patrick Surtain II in Week 2. After a solid performance in Week 1, where Pickens caught six passes for 85 yards, he remains unfazed by the prospect of facing one of the league’s top defensive backs.

As the Steelers head to Denver, all eyes will be on the battle between these two rising stars.

Surtain, considered by many as one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL, limited Seattle Seahawks' receivers to just three catches for 39 yards in Week 1. Despite the challenge, Pickens, who previously faced Surtain in college when he played for Georgia and Surtain for Alabama, is not intimidated.

"He’s just a good player," Pickens commented . "Like a lot of other players in here. He’s a good player. I’m a good player."

The showdown will likely see Surtain shadowing Pickens throughout the game, with former Steeler Levi Wallace handling Van Jefferson and Calvin Austin. Pickens, however, remains focused on his role, aiming to contribute to the Steelers’ offensive efforts, which struggled to reach the end zone in Week 1, relying on six field goals for their 18-10 victory over the Falcons.

Pickens' Week 1 performance earned him a Pro Football Focus ( PFF ) overall grade of 71.5, including a 74.3 receiving grade and a passer rating of 117.3 when targeted. Ranked 25th among all NFL receivers for Week 1, he will look to improve those numbers against Denver's formidable defense.

The Steelers, now 1-0, aim to maintain their early momentum behind quarterback Justin Fields as they travel to Denver for week 2 . With a tough matchup ahead, Pickens and the Steelers are determined to make a statement in their pursuit of a 2-0 start to the season.
