Dolphins Players Who Will Surprise In Week 2 Of Thursday Night Football

The Miami Dolphins' injury report took a hit on Wednesday when it was announced that veteran running back Raheem Mostert would be inactive for Thursday Night Football against the Buffalo Bills. Rookie wide receiver Malik Washington has also been ruled out.

Second-year RB De'Von Achane is the only remaining offensive weapon on the report, but he's planning to "work out pregame tonight to determine his availability," per Ian Rapoport on X.

With key injuries (pending and otherwise), we look for these players to take advantage of bounce-back opportunities as the offense gets rolling against the Bills.

    Jaylen Waddle

Tua Tagovailoa will have his work cut out for him amid Mostert's absence. That said, his huge success in the passing game from Week 1 should carry over to TNF.

The Dolphins are a pass-first team. Tyreek Hill erupted for seven receptions for 130 yards and one touchdown in the 20-17 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars. He led the team in targets (12), so look for the Bills defense to put more emphasis on him in Week 2.

Waddle should have an opportunity to score his first touchdown of the season. He hauled in all five of his targets last week, and Tagovailoa will likely take a few shots downfield to his No. 2 wideout.

Jaylen Wright and Jeff Wilson Jr.

While Miami is hampered by injuries to their backfield, that doesn't mean they're going to ignore their running game. The Bills allowed 124 rushing yards in their 34-28 win against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 1.

Due to the uncertainty of Achane leading up to the 8:15 PM ET kickoff, look for fourth-round pick Jaylen Wright to make his official debut. The Tennessee product turned heads in training camp, so fans will be excited to see how his power-running style fits into the Dolphins rushing attack.

Veteran Jeff Wilson Jr. will likely handle at least a small portion of the workload, as well. The seven-year ball carrier ran five times for 26 yards in Week 1.
