Chiefs Trade Idea? Nope; Forbes Jr. Having Surgery

The Kansas City Chiefs traded away star cornerback L'Jarius Sneed earlier this offseason, so they could be looking for some depth at the position as a result.

But they would now be barking up the wrong tree on one popular idea.

In a recent article by Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox , he takes a look at some of the NFL players he sees as most likely to be traded. One of the players he mentions is the smallish Washington Commanders corner Emmanuel Forbes Jr., saying the Chiefs could target the young defensive back.

Yeah, maybe. The Commanders made Forbes the 16th-overall pick in last year's draft, and it’s not working out … especially with a new regime in place there.

Does the second-year corner have “playmaking potential,” as BR claims? Sure, but …

Now comes word he needs thumb surgery. So … no thanks to the whole idea.

Trent McDuffie will be a leader on this Chiefs defense at just 23 years old, so he could use some depth behind him.

Forbes finished last season with 38 total tackles. He was also able to show a tiny bit of his ball-hawk skills by getting an interception and defending on 11 passes.

If the Chiefs decide they want to get some other young talent to go with McDuffie in the cornerback room, Forbes might be a very intriguing option. … someday. When he’s both cheap and healthy.
