Deion Sanders Responds to Colorado State's Comments Before Week 3

Colorado State Rams players made headlines this week ahead of their matchup against in-state rivals Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes.

After falling short to Colorado in overtime last season, Rams wide receiver Tory Horton said that Colorado State should have "murdered" the Buffaloes and is seeking some "revenge" on Saturday.

“We owe them one,” Horton told Romi Bean of CBS Colorado. “And that’s something that’s been sitting on everybody’s mind since we came back from break. We owe them one and we walked away from that game as we kind of left it all in the field. I don’t feel like we left it all on the field, because we should have murdered them guys. And they came out with that attitude as they were on top of the world, and this ain’t no Cinderella story. We’re coming for revenge.”

Rams quarterback Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi also added some of his own bulletin board material ahead of the Week 3 clash.

“At the end of the day, you have to line up 11 guys against our 11 guys, and we’ll find out who wants it more," he said. "We’ll see how far Instagram followers gets them.”

Sanders shared his response to the viral comments during his coaches show on Thursday.

“It makes it personal again," Sanders said. "It makes you think like, ‘Oh, OK.’ Because you analyze it as an adult. Kids don’t. They just get mad. You analyze it as an adult and you say, ‘OK, I see why you said that.’ And you know what’s behind it. But you try to understand that those are kids. Don’t do it."

It seems like Sanders believes he is taking the high road approach by "not taking that bait" regarding the trash talk from Colorado State.

“You want to do it...," Sanders continued. "So I’m not going to do it. I’m not going to take that bait. That’s too easy.”

The Colorado-Colorado State beef hasn't been limited to jabs from players. Rams head coach Jay Norvell blasted Sanders for wearing sunglasses when speaking to the media last year. Norvell's wife also added to the fire, tweeting that Sanders "acted like a B" following the previous matchup.

All things considered, Saturday night's game in Fort Collins will be a must-watch affair based on the pregame talk alone. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET (CBS). The Buffaloes are listed as 7-point road favorites, per ESPN Bet.
