Kyle Kuzma, the former forward for the Los Angeles Lakers , recently expressed a strong desire to return to Los Angeles—not in the capacity of an NBA player, but to compete for the United States national team in the 2028 Olympic Games.

He emphasized that representing the U.S. is his “number one goal,” to Victor LF of Blog De Basket , which underscores his dedication to achieving this dream despite the challenges he has faced, including past injuries.

Kuzma stated , “Playing for the United States team is my number one goal, especially at the Olympic Games.” This determination reflects not only his commitment to the sport but also his ambition to showcase his skills on an international level.

If he cannot secure a spot on the U.S. team, Kuzma mentioned his openness to playing for the Philippines, potentially reuniting with former Lakers teammate Jordan Clarkson.

He noted , “That would be great...I think it’s really cool that other players go to other places to play,” illustrating his respect for international competition and camaraderie among players.

Over the past season, Kuzma had a productive stint with the Washington Wizards, averaging 22.2 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game.

However, his three-point shooting percentage stood at just 33.6%, a statistic he may need to improve to enhance his Olympic selection chances.

Competing for a place on Team USA is undoubtedly a challenge, given the wealth of talent available.

As Kuzma looks ahead to 2028, his performance in the upcoming NBA seasons will be crucial in proving his capability and solidifying his aspirations on the international stage.
