With their Week 2 matchup against the Denver Broncos just days away, the Pittsburgh Steelers are set to start quarterback Justin Fields for the second-straight week as Russell Wilson continues to nurse a calf injury.

While Wilson did practice Thursday, he was still limited and doesn't seem to be 100 percent heading into the game against his former team. After practice, Wilson gave an update on his injury.

"I feel like I'm getting closer and closer," said Wilson. "I'm just trying to be smart and got to do a lot of work today on the field and everything else, throwing and all of that, so just trying to be smart."

Wilson also noted that the timing of the injury has had an impact on how the team is handling it.

"With this being so early in the season I also want to be strategic," said Wilson. "Coach and I have talked a lot about it, and we believe in our football team. We believe in what we are, and all of the things we can do. We're just trying not to rush it so it's not a long, long period of time."

Wilson missed the Steelers' Week 1 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons after feeling pain in the same calf that sidelined him throughout training camp. With Fields starting, the team was able to win, but they also did not reach the end zone once.
