Paris Shand on his group coming together without a star teammate

Earlier this week, Brian Kelly admitted the injury to Jacobian Guillory created a major hole on the defensive line. “He was a stalwart for us, a big physical point of attack guy…we’re losing a very strong inside presence,” said Kelly.

Defensive end Paris Shand knows that his teammates need to rally and come together without Jacobian. Shand talked about this more with the media.

How important is this game to win?

Paris: I feel like every game is important. My mentality is 1-0 every week so I take every game as it is. I don’t put any more importance on this game over any other game. So I’ll just say this game is important to win because every game is important to win.

You guys are obviously going to be without Jacobian Guillory. How are you rallying with his absence?

Paris: He’s a great leader and even through his injury he’s still helping and talking to the guys. Without him, it’s just next man up. Whoever needs to play in that position will play in that position and do what they’re told and do the best that they can. They will give 110% and whatever the result is the result. If you give all that you have, you’ll be happy with the result.
