After 'Great Start' Chiefs Want 'Spark' Xavier Worthy 'More Involved' In Offense

When the Kansas City Chiefs drafted Xavier Worthy, most knew what adding his speed to Andy Reid's offense would do. But exactly how Reid would incorporate him into his offense was a question mark.

Well, after two receptions for 47 yards and a touchdown, along with a 21-yard run for a touchdown against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 1, we know that Reid can use Worthy in a host of ways. His blazing 4.21 speed was on show in his debut, and the Cincinnati Bengals will have to gameplan for him.

And quarterback Patrick Mahomes thinks Worthy can be the spark that gets the offense rolling.

“I think it's just going to be a spark, it shows what he can do,” Mahomes said of Worthy's ability against the Ravens. “Obviously, it showed his speed, it showed how he's able to run routes and find open spaces, but it just kind of gives him that confidence. I think he already had it anyways, but to show that he can do it on Sundays or whatever day of the week that we're playing, it's just kind of a start for him., I mean we want him to keep building, we want to get him more and more involved in the offense but a great start.”

While Worthy burst onto the scene, now he has to back it up, and the Bengals defense has film on him in an attempt to try and slow him down. The hard part is that the Chiefs have so many offensive weapons that it is nearly impossible to stop them all; you have to pick your poison.

Travis Kelce, Justin Watson, Noah Gray, Isiah Pacheco, and Worthy all have the potential to make life tough for any defense, and the Bengals, after succumbing to the New England Patriots 16-10 in Week 1, have a mountain of work to do.

And with so many weapons that can hurt you in a variety of ways, maybe this version of the Chiefs will be the toughest of all to stop.
