Miami Dolphins Coach Drops Painful Admission About Tua Tagovailoa's Injury

The Miami Dolphins welcomed the Buffalo Bills for a primetime matchup on Thursday Night Football.

Tua Tagovailoa and the Dolphins came into the game as the favorite after defeating the Jacksonville Jaguars 20-17 in Week 1.

While Miami picked up a brutal 31-10 loss to Josh Allen and company, all eyes were on Tagovailoa's health after the game.

With just over 4:30 remaining in the third quarter of the game, Tagovailoa rushed for the first down in the red zone and ran into the chest of Bills safety Damar Hamlin. Tagovailoa led with his head and ultimately fell after taking a hard hit.

It was later reported that Tagovailoa was being evaluated for a concussion.

After the loss, Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel spoke about the health of his quarterback, mentioning that he's "worried" for Tagovailoa.

“I was just worried about my guy," McDaniel said. "Not something that you ever want to be a part of.”

While McDaniel explained that this isn't a favorable scenario, the Dolphins must find answers to fill a gaping hole in one of the most explosive offenses in the league.

Tagovailoa finished the game with one touchdown and 145 yards while giving up three interceptions.

Despite the struggles on Thursday, Tagovailoa has been one of the best gunslingers in the league under McDaniel.

During the 2023-24 season, Tagovailoa produced 29 touchdowns, while throwing for 4,624 yards and capping off the year with a career-high 69.3 completion percentage.

Tagovailoa will now await a final call on his injury, while McDaniel heads to the drawing board, with quarterback Skylar Thompson in the bullpen.

Thompson was thrust into the lineup in the third quarter on Thursday and finished the game with 80 yards, connecting on 8-of-14 pass attempts.

While the pressure is on McDaniel to find out what's next for the Dolphins, he'll have time to find a solution. Miami's next game will be played on Sept. 22 against the Seattle Seahawks.

Why would Miami sign him to such a large contract when he was only 1 or 2 concussions away from never playing again?
