Lane Kiffin has the Ole Miss Rebels off to a strong start in the 2024 college football season, with a 2-0 record and a No. 5 ranking in the country.

The Rebels are currently at their highest ranking since 2015 when they reached No. 3. Kiffin has achieved 10 or more wins in two of the last three seasons, and the team went 11-2 last season, marking the most wins in a season for Ole Miss ever.

Until Kiffin arrived at Ole Miss, he had never remained at a school for more than four seasons. That was at USC, where he was fired midway through his fourth season. Nonetheless, he is currently in his fifth season at Ole Miss, and there is already speculation about whether he will consider leaving for another job.

On his show, ESPN's Paul Finebaum asked if Lane Kiffin would take the Florida Gators job if it became available. Finebaum stated that Kiffin would have to be offered the job first, and even then, his decision would depend on how Ole Miss' season goes this year.

"He's got to be offered the job," Finebaum said. "I think it entirely depends on what Ole Miss is doing and the caveat I offered when I gave that interview is, if Ole Miss is in national championship contention, that would likely screw the whole thing up."

Kiffin is currently focused on his Ole Miss team, which has three ranked teams on its schedule, two of which are at home, including the No. 1 ranked Georgia Bulldogs. If the Rebels are able to have the season many think they can and live up to their current top-five ranking, they could make their first College Football Playoff in school history.

Ole Miss will face Wake Forest on Saturday, Sept. 14, at 6:30 p.m. ET on The CW Network.
