Twins postseason ticket strips to go on sale Monday

The MLB postseason is less than three weeks away but fans of the Minnesota Twins will be able to secure their tickets sooner than that.

The Twins are selling full postseason ticket strips starting at 10 a.m. Monday. A ticket strip includes a spot at every postseason game that is played at Target Field.

Entering Friday, the Twins certainly don’t have a postseason spot locked in yet but they’re still in a favorable position.

Minnesota is currently in the third and final wild card spot in the American League and, thanks to losses Thursday night by each of the three closest teams just outside the playoff picture, the Twins are now 3.5 games ahead of Detroit and 4.5 ahead of both Seattle and Boston. Additionally, the Royals are just 1.5 games up on the Twins entering the weekend.

The Twins have 16 games left — one more than each of the three teams chasing them and Kansas City — and open a three-game series against Cincinnati on Friday night.

The Wild Card Round of the playoffs are tentatively set to start on Oct. 1. If that started today, the Twins would be at Houston. If they pass Kansas City, the Twins would travel to Baltimore.

Since Minnesota is the lower seed, the club would have to advance to the ALDS to have any home playoff games, unless they can overtake both Kansas City and Baltimore, where the Twins finish the regular-season, or KC and Cleveland to win the division. The Twins are 5.5 games behind the Guardians but open a four-game series in Cleveland on Monday.
