NFL Head Coach Urges Tua Tagovailoa to Retire

The Miami Dolphins took on the Buffalo Bills on Thursday night but couldn't get the win after losing 10-31. Unfortunately, all the attention is on Miami quarterback Tua Tagovailoa after he suffered another concussion.

Tagovailoa has dealt with a string of concussions throughout his career. The star quarterback suffered his third concussion in the NFL within a two year span.

Considering how far he's come from his rookie season, it's a shame. Overcoming adversity and finding a unique relationship with head coach Mike McDaniel has sparked the Dolphins' playoff hopes since the beginning of the 2022 season.

But Thursday night, Tagovailoa ran head first into Bills' safety Damar Hamlin which resulted in a concussion on the field. Many have suggested it might be time for the Dolphins quarterback to call it a career. And now Las Vegas Raiders head coach, Antonio Pierce joins the crowd , per sports journalist Heidi Fang.

Ultimately, it is Tagovailoa's decision on how to move forward after suffering his third concussion in two years. The Dolphins quarterback may weigh his options and make a final decision. But we won't know until an announcement is officially made.

But either way, it's nice to know that Pierce simply wants the best for Tagovailoa. Although Pierce coaches the Raiders, he seemingly cares more about player safety than winning games.

Tagovailoa suffered his first concussion in a 2022 game against the Bills. Tagovailoa left the game but somehow returned to action. Later that season in December 2022, the star quarterback suffered his second concussion during a game against the Green Bay Packers.

After suffering those two injuries, the Dolphins' star took up jiu jitsu classes to learn how to fall correctly and avoid head injuries. Tagovailoa did not suffer a concussion or miss any games in 2023.

Before suffering the injury on Thursday night , Tagovailoa recorded 145 passing yards, one touchdown, and three interceptions. It was a tough outing for the star quarterback and the Dolphins as they had no answers for the Bills.

As for the injury, the Dolphins will likely conduct further evaluations on Tagovailoa's health. The typical recovery time for a concussion is anywhere between 7-14 days. However, considering the star quarterback has suffered multiple concussions, there's a chance he could be out for much longer than that.

The Dolphins are set to take on the Seattle Seahawks in Week 3 on Sunday, September 22. Coming off of a Thursday night game gives Tagovailoa some extra time to recover. But it's important to remember what's at stake for the star quarterback.
