Peja Stojakovic Would 'Thrive' with Warriors?

    By Lance Roberson,

Everyone who shoots 3s could make the Golden State Warriors roster, or at least that's the narrative of many former players or people from a past generation. On a recent episode of Brandon "Scoop B" Robinson's "Scoop B Radio Podcast,"  Mike Bibby talked up Sacramento Kings legend Peja Stojakovic to the point of saying he'd play with the Warriors if he played in the current era.

Robinson asked Bibby if Stojakovic could play with the Warriors.

Bibby allowed no room for hesitance and jumped at the answer with a yes, then detailed why his Sacramento Kings teammate would "thrive" with the Warriors.

"Because they play the way we used to play. Moving and stuff like that,” Bibby said on Scoop B Radio Podcast . He added that Stojakovic’s elite shooting ability would make him adaptable to any team in the league."

Stojakovic played 518 games with the Kings. During the Kings' tenure, Stojakovic averaged 18.3 points on 39 percent shooting from behind the 3-point line on 5.2 attempts per game.

The Kings led the league in pace in four seasons during Stojakovic's tenure. Although the pace of the late 1990s and early 2000s is slower compared to today's game, it's a sign Stojakovic had the potential to play faster.

“If you’re a shooter, you can play anywhere," Bibby claimed.

Having the ability to shoot from distance helps gain you a spot in the rotation, but in today's game, solely being able to shoot doesn't grant you minutes. In the switch-heavy defenses that occur frequently in the current era, Stojakovic would see smaller guards zoom past the defensively inefficient forward.

However, at least in the regular season, his offense could neutralize such a threat. Stojakovic is an all-time shooter and would fit with the Warriors, but his playoff minutes with the team could lessen.

Ultimately, it's all hypothetical but makes for an engaging debate.
