Daniel Jones Fires Back At Doubters Ahead of Giants-Commanders

The New York Giants had no answers for the Minnesota Vikings in Week 1 after losing the contest 6-28. It was Daniel Jones' first game back from injury but it was an abysmal display, as he recorded 186 passing yards and two interceptions.

In the following hours of the loss, Giants fans took to social media to voice their displeasure of Jones' performance. They shared videos of burning his jersey and many fans lined up outside of the stadium just to boo him as he left home.

It's been a rocky career that's been hindered by injuries for Jones. However, he managed to put together a decent enough season in 2022 after finishing with 3,205 passing yards, 708 rushing yards, 22 total touchdowns, and five interceptions while throwing a 67.2 completion percentage.

The following offseason, the Giants gave Jones a four-year $160 million contract. Since then, it hasn't panned out for New York as Jones played just six games last season and looked completely lost in the 2024 season opener.

But Jones isn't giving up. In a recent interview, the Giants' starting quarterback shared a message to the doubters as he plans on turning things around, according to Giants reporter, Ryan Novozinsky. Here's what Jones had to say about his Week 2 matchup against the Washington Commanders.

"I can't wait to play well and win the game."

Considering the Commanders are in a bit of a rebuild themselves, there's a chance for the Giants to get back in the win column. Focusing on the game ahead is all Jones can do at this point.

Unfortunately for Jones, the 2024 season marks his sixth year in the NFL. He's been in the league long enough for the Giants to have a full evaluation of his quarterback play. These next coming weeks are detrimental to Jones' career in New York.

The fanbase is tired and ready to move on from Jones. His inconsistent play has put the Giants in numerous bad spots over the years. Here's one of the interceptions that had fans sick to their stomachs during Week 1 against the Vikings.

In the previous offseason, the Giants were seen evaluating the rookie quarterback class heavily during the offseason edition of HBO's "Hard Knocks." New York ultimately chose not to trade up for a quarterback in the NFL Draft and selected wide receiver Malik Nabers instead at No. six overall.

Jones' future in the league is ultimately up to him. Week 2 against Washington is a huge opportunity for the veteran quarterback to prove the doubters wrong.
