After barely surviving their home opener against Old Dominion, South Carolina had arguably the most impressive performance in college football last Saturday. To go from barely beating a lower level FBS school to a big time win on the road at Kentucky is impressive.

So who exactly are the 2024 South Carolina Gamecocks? I guess we will find out on Saturday.

The head coach Shane Beamer talked about his team’s performance and what he expects from LSU, “I’m excited about this week. Obviously, what an opportunity for us against a really talented, well coached LSU team. I have a ton of respect for Brian Kelly and the success that he’s had wherever he has been. My dad coached against him when he was at Cincinnati and my dad was at Virginia Tech. They coached against each other in the Orange Bowl, said Beamer.

Beamer continued,“His teams have always been the same: tough, disciplined, physical and well-coached. This group is no different. They’re really good at special teams. Defensively, they’ve got athleticism and speed. They’ve got guys who can disrupt things at all three levels. Nussmeier, the quarterback, does not look like a first time starter. He looks very poised and confident, he can make all the throws. They have a talented group of receivers and arguably the best defensive line in the country. So I think it will be a heck of a football game.”
