Despite being one of the top players in the WNBA today, Caitlin Clark, at the end of the day, is still a rookie. This fact makes her incredible campaign even more amazing. At the same time, however, the truth of the matter is even Clark herself is not immune from the typical rite of passage rooks have to go through in the pros.

This was exactly the case for the 22-year-old on Friday, September 13, when Clark was subjected to a bit of rookie initiation during their morning shootaround ahead of their evening home game against the Las Vegas Aces at the Mortgage Fieldhouse.

Being that it was teammate Lexie Hull's birthday, the vets required Clark to perform the "Happy Birthday to You" song in front of the entire team. Caitlin is also the only rookie on the squad which meant that it had to be a solo performance.

Clark spoke to the media during her pre-game press conference before taking on the defending champs, Aces. Of course, she was asked about her now-viral song number.

According to Clark, she has accepted the fact that these are all just part of being a rookie.

"I have to perform," she said with a smile (h/t Fever beat reporter Matthew Byrne of ClutchPoints). "It's a tough job ."

Clark then admitted that she wished there were more rookie teammates just so she did not have to go through all this by herself.

Rookie or no rookie, the simple fact is that Caitlin Clark has now firmly established herself as one of the top players in the WNBA. She will want to live up to this title on Friday as they host a powerhouse Aces in a rematch following Indiana's 86-75 loss on Wednesday, September 11.

Clark did not have the best of games in that one (16 points on 6-of-22 shooting, six assists, five turnovers), so you can be sure that she's looking to bounce back come Friday night.
