Caitlin Clark has been everything fans were expecting and more during her rookie season with the Indiana Fever. She has set numerous records and has Indiana in the WNBA Playoffs for the first time since 2016.

But throughout the season, Clark has shown off her fiery competitiveness to the point where she has received six technical fouls, with her latest on Friday night against the Las Vegas Aces.

If Clark were to pick up one more tech, she would be suspended for one game. Every WNBA player who receives seven techs gets suspended, and every other tech after that (9th, 11th, 13th...) is an additional suspension.

Prior to Friday night's game between the Fever and Aces, coach Christie Sides revealed what she had said to Clark in hopes of avoiding her missing a game.

"I mean, we talk about her competitive spirit a lot," Sides said. "We didn't want her to pick up those technical fouls... We don't want her, nobody wants her to sit out, and I think it's just a conversation about, you know, what the result will be if you get those and she understands."

Clark has had her fair share of arguing with the referees throughout the year, which is the main reason she has picked up six technical fouls. Sides then proceeded to reveal Clark's thoughts on a potential suspension.

"She obviously doesn't want to have to sit out a game as well," Sides added.  "But I mean, again, that's her drive, and that's her spirit, and that's something, you know, I want her to have it, the way she's been all season and then just maybe we've got to pick and choose some of our times."

Sides then discussed how she has had Clark avoid another suspension.

"Like once you realize it's just not going in your favor anymore, you know it's time to go to the next play," Sides continued. "So we kind of talk about that, just getting into that next play."

There are only three games left in the regular season for the Fever, so in all likelihood, Clark will be able to avoid a suspension. But just the thought of her missing a game may not sit well with the Indiana faithful.

Clark is now tied for the second-most techs in the league. The Phoenix Mercury have the three players with the most, including Natasha Cloud (7), who was suspended, Diana Taurasi (6) and Kahleah Copper (6). Fortunately, for all these players, techs reset in the playoffs.
