Caitlin Clark's 'Crazy' Response To Critical 6th Technical Foul

    By Chris Phelps,

On Friday night, Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever suffered a 78-74 loss at the hands of the Las Vegas Aces. The Fever have fallen to 19-19 in the season after losing their last two games, both of which came against Las Vegas.

About halfway into the first quarter, Clark picked up a technical foul for smacking the base of the basketball hoop in frustration. This marked her sixth technical of the season. One more, and she will be suspended for a game.

In her postgame press conference, Clark opened up about her latest technical foul and shared what she could have done to avoid it.

"That's crazy," Clark said. "Well, I mean, they're never going to overturn that. It's just one of the rules, I guess... It's in the rulebook. It is what it is. That's why I tried to get my last one taken away and they just didn't take it away. Half of my technicals this year, I got one for the inadvertent contact to the face in the Minnesota game and then two for hitting the stanchion of the basket."

On August 18 against the Seattle Storm, Clark picked up a similar technical foul after slapping the stanchion of the hoop. The ref justified the foul by calling her act " disrespectful ."

"One was a complete accident, and the other two were just a little frustration with myself," Clark added. "I think I could have done a better job keeping my emotions in check."

With only two games remaining in the regular season for Indiana, it seems pretty unlikely Clark will be suspended. With technical fouls resetting once the playoffs start, the former Iowa star would have to pick up her next tech in Sunday's game against the Dallas Wings in order to be suspended.
