Olu Fashanu or JC Latham? Do Jets Have Better Rookie Tackle?

The 2024 draft class was one of the deepest in recent memory with many top players at key positions looking to make an immediate impact.

Tennessee Titans offensive tackle JC Latham (55) takes on San Francisco 49ers defensive end Yetur Gross-Matos (94) to give quarterback Will Levis (8) time to throw during their first preseason game of the 2024-25 season at Nissan Stadium Saturday, Aug. 10, 2024.

One of those top positions was at tackle.

Joe Alt, JC Latham, and Olu Fashanu were three of the top players coming out of school at the tackle position. Latham and Alt are starting for their respective teams.

Fashanu, on the other hand, is currently backing up top players like Morgan Moses and Tyron Smith instead.

Either way, all three have been players that have pleased their respective franchsies over the last few months. With Fashanu and Latham set to face off against each other (kind of), the Jets have a great chance to look back at draft night and see which player is better.

"Really fond of his (Latham's) game," Saleh said. "Obviously, he was part of the discussion when we were looking at all of those tackles, absolute mauler, a massive human being, good feet for a guy his size, but every bit of deserving as his draft status, and after some preseason and one game, he looks the part."

New York is still very pleased with what they have seen from Fashanu to this point. With Latham and the Penn State product competing further, the Jets should feel confident that, in time, they'll get the better player.
