Dan Mullen Believes College Football Powerhouse Got Its 'Swagger Back'

ESPN college football analyst Dan Mullen recently commented on the current state of the Top 10 teams in college football ahead of the Week 3 slate.

Mullen, a former head coach for Mississippi State and Florida, decided to signal out, not just one team but one player.

He believes Heisman trophy candidate Cam Ward from the Miami Hurricanes has brought UM's "swagger back."

The Hurricanes are rolling through the year after two dominant victories, starting off 2-0 and heading into their Week 3 matchup as heavy favorites.

“What he has brought is The U’s swagger back," Mullen said.

Miami is the top-ranked team in the ACC and No. 10 in the nation. Much of the credit for the rise in their rankings should go to their veteran signal-caller.

In two games with the Hurricanes, Cam Ward has produced six touchdowns and 689 yards, throwing just one interception.

He helped Miami go into Gainesville and take down the Gators 41-17 in Week 1. After their introduction to the top teams in college football, UM secured another monster victory in Week 2, stomping FAMU with a 56-9 victory.

Ward transferred from Washington State, where he played two seasons with the Cougars. He started his career at Incarnate Word in 2020.

After dominating the FCS level, throwing for 47 touchdowns and 4,648 yards in 2021, Ward packed his bags for the Pac-12. He showed out for the Cougars, playing efficient football for two seasons, and ultimately took his talents to South Beach.

In his first year at the FBS level, 2022, Ward posted 23 touchdowns and 3,231 yards with a 64.4 completion percentage. He then recorded 25 touchdowns and 3,735 yards in his final season with Washington State which was 2023.

The veteran quarterback has certainly brought Miami back into the public atmosphere after some brutal years for the Hurricanes.
