The No. 19 Minnesota Golden Gophers (4-3) swept the Auburn Tigers (6-1) in the Diet Coke Classic on Friday night at Maturi Pavilion in Minneapolis.

It comes after a Gophers sweep of St. Thomas in their home opener this week.

Minnesota has swept their past three opponents with the win. Auburn was handed its first loss of the season Friday night.

Julia Hanson and Lydia Grote led the way for the Golden Gophers. Each recorded a double-double on the night, as Hanson had 12 kills and 16 digs while Grote had 11 kills and 10 digs.

Setter Melani Shaffmaster had 30 assists and 14 digs in the match as well.

"It was one of our better serving performances of the year in terms of consistency," Gophers head coach Keegan Cook said in a statement.

"We applied pressure for all six rotations. Auburn is a great side-out team, and they've shown that, so I was particularly pleased with our blocking effort."

Other notables include Calissa Minatee (8 kills), Mckenna Wucherer (6 kills), Zeynep Palabiyik (14 digs) and Kate Thibault (10 digs).

Minnesota never trailed by more than five points in the first set and took the lead for good at 13-12. The set featured four blocks against the Tigers and ended with a Gophers 25-21 win.

The second set saw the Gophers trail early 7-2 but Alex Acevedo came through with three set aces to take an 8-7 edge over the Tigers. Minnesota then continued the 6-0 run and turned it into a 15-4 run to lead 17-11, eventually winning 25-22.

The third and final set was over after the first point as the Gophers never trailed. Minnesota went up 12-1 and led by as many as 14 points before they finished off the set with a 25-16 victory. The Gophers tallied 18 kills in the set.

Minnesota will now head to Green Bay, Wis. for three matches in the Capital Credit Union Classic. The next match will be on Thursday at 7 p.m. against host Phoenix. You can stream it on ESPN+.
