South Carolina Fans Send Three-Word Message To Nick Saban On College GameDay

The "College GameDay" crew is in Columbia, South Carolina in Week 3 for the first time in a decade.

Nick Saban, Desmond Howard, Kirk Herbstreit, Lee Corso, Rece Davis and Pat McAfee were previewing the South Carolina Gamecocks matchup against the No. 16 LSU Tigers.

As the show aired on ESPN, McAfee explained that South Carolina fans are some of the rowdiest fans in college football, while mentioning that some students were at the "College GameDay" set as early as 4 a.m. ET.

These fans made their voice heard early in the show when they sent Nick Saban a request.

"We want Saban," shouted South Carolina fans.

Some fans on social media were questioning "wanting" Saban, with some believing SC supporters want Saban as the head coach of the Gamecocks given Shane Beamer's uncertainty in Columbia.

"Are they talking about to Coach their team? Or to do the broadcasting?" questioned one fan.

"South Carolina fans chant 'We want Saban!' on the College GameDay set," one fan wrote. "Saban: “To do what?”

"And the crowd erupts- we want Saban. Love that for him!" commented one fan.

"Saban is probably the only thing that could save South Carolina football," said another fan.

"South Carolina fans chanting we want Saban on College Game Day....OUCH! LoL!!" said one fan.

Beamer has been with the Gamecocks since 2021. In his first year with the program, Beamer led South Carolina to a 7-6 record.

The Gamecocks have been quite mediocre in the past few years under Beamer. Their last double-digit win season was in 2013, so fans seem to be losing patience in Columbia.

Despite what some believe is a request by SC fans to get the former Alabama Crimson Tide head coach out of retirement, Saban has made it known that he won't be returning to a head coaching gig, especially outside of Tuscaloosa.

Beamer and the Gamecocks have started the season 2-0, with a Week 1 23-19 victory over Old Dominion and a Week 2 win over Kentucky, 31-6 in Lexington.

The Gamecocks are underdogs to the No. 16 LSU Tigers on Saturday.
