Paul Finebaum Names College Football Coach Whose 'Words Don't Matter' Anymore

The Florida Gators need a win. They started the year 1-1 and lost their home opener to in-state rival Miami 41-17.

The Gators have suffered through three consecutive losing seasons, which is the program's longest streak in 70 years. Some believe that head coach Billy Napier, who has been in charge for two of those seasons, may be dismissed if things don't improve.

ESPN's Paul Finebaum revealed on Saturday's "SEC Nation" that if things don't improve on the field, Napier's words will no longer matter, no matter how embarrassed he is.

"Unfortunately for Billy Napier right now, words don't matter," Finebaum said. "He can do all of the, how he's embarrassed. 'I should have done better.' But if he loses the game tonight, these fans out here will not care... A loss today is that the chance at any success this year goes down the drain. Mathematically, the percentage of a bowl game is done, and that's the problem."

The Gators followed up their opening game loss with a blowout win against Samford, 45-7. In that game, star freshman quarterback D.J. Lagway, who played for the injured starter Graham Mertz, had an outstanding performance, throwing for 456 yards and three touchdowns.

That performance has sparked optimism about the program's future and even led to what seems to be a quarterback controversy. However, for the upcoming game that Finebaum believes is a must-win for the Gators, it's been reported that Florida will stick with the veteran quarterback, but Lagway will also get playing time.

You can watch the Gators and Aggies at 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
